A soccer ball in the making and some others to be pumped.Malam Umar Wunti is a 43 year old native of Bauchi, capital of Bauchi state, northern Nigeria. Married with two wives and six children, he lives with them in an extended family home in Bauchi town. In 2000 he returned from Jos, Plateau state capital, where he was working as a shoe maker. In 2001, on one faithfull day, a young boy brought a damaged soccer ball for him to mend and after successfully patching it and subsequently doing the same for other people on different occasions, he was convinced he could make the ball from scratch with locally sourced materials. Between 2001 and 2009, Malam Umar has trained well over 30 young boys and passer-bye's on how to make soccer balls and some of them have going ahead in the trade and are making a living from it in different parts of the country.(Credit: Adolphus Opara/Twenty Ten/Africa Media Online)
