This year, the festival preceded the Ghana Vs. Sudan qualifier match that took place at the Accra National stadium on the 6th of September 2009.. Fetu Afahye is being celebrated by the people of Oguaa or Cape Coast Traditional Area in the Central Region and is named after the 17th Century Fetu or Effutu kingdom, which is located 19 kilometers inland of Cape Coast. .
